Who am I ?
Volunteer
I volunteered for a national Irish charity organisation (a helpline supporting LGBT people in Ireland and their families) from 2009 to 2015. In 2014 I was elected to the committee & board of directors, taking the Company Secretary position. The role involved carrying out legal responsibilities for the organisation, administrative support, database maintenance and system change coordination.
Rugby Lover
I have dabbled with playing, but a number of broken ribs made me hang my boots up, my main passion is to watch Ireland play Rugby Union.
Hard Worker
I will do what it takes. I came to Australia to live after 10+ visits for a holiday. The only way to get on a path to stay permanently was to work on a farm for 3 months, which I did. It was very early mornings, hard physical work in a rural area with no internet or phone signal, but I did it and loved it! Plus it helped to work with such beautiful animals
Big Kid
I am a big child at heart.
Traveller
I have visited many, many countries - but in recent years I’ve been able to explore so much of Australia helping keep my travel bug alive. There is so much to see here and every State is so different and vast.
Animal Lover
I grew up with all kinds of animals and especially lots of dogs. Following my first holiday to Australia when I was 13, after we got back to Ireland one of our girls had a large litter and I was the one who was in charge of walking them - the whole litter. Loved every minute of it.
Now, I am step-dad to 2 beautiful German Shepherds and look forward to growing this furry family this year !
Explorer
My ideal Sunday is spent wandering around a forest, beach or national park. A perfect city break would be placed in an area I don’t know with a travel pass and out walking the streets.
Ice Cream Lover
Eating ice cream really does make you happy. Scientists have found that a spoonful of the cold stuff lights up the same pleasure centre in the brain as winning money or listening to your favourite music.
Curious
The desire to gain knowledge results in me being very curious, I love to explore new areas and learn about different cultures. This helps me to be more empathetic. This combination of curiosity and empathy is what I believe makes me a strong leader.
Helper
It is in my nature to help people, in any setting, at work, volunteering or in my personal life. One of my all time favourites was cooking a meal for families who were staying at a local Ronald McDonald House. It gave great joy to give those families one less thing to think of when they are going through such a turbulent time.
Personal Best-Pusher
For a few years I completed 3 weekly sessions in strong man training, I am still the number 1 spot holder for deadlifts at my personal trainers gym. I do hope to get back to this and the gym in 2020.
Maybe that should be - Ice Cream Addict
:-)
Fixer
Its not enjoyable when things go wrong, but when they do - I am calm, level headed and able to think fast, on my feet to put things right.
